Fire Escapes
A fire escape is life-safety equipment. It is also, on a lot of older North Shore buildings, the most neglected steel on the property. We inspect, repair, and replace fire escapes with a safety-first approach and an eye on what the inspector is going to look for.

What corrosion actually does
Steel does not fail all at once. It fails at the connections, usually where water has been sitting against a bolted joint or where paint failed years ago and nobody looked. A fire escape can appear solid from the sidewalk and have a platform connection that is mostly rust. That is why an actual inspection matters more than a visual from the ground.

Fire escapes are inspected on a schedule in most Massachusetts municipalities, and requirements vary by city. We work to the applicable requirements and give you documentation of the work performed, which is what building departments and insurers ask for.
